London, 1952. A civil servant in a bureaucratic office in the reconstruction of Great Britain, Williams lives a routine of boredom until he is diagnosed with a fatal disease. After the news, he decides to seek a greater meaning for his existence and radically changes his attitude, including approaching a young co-worker.
