After her mother’s death, Mona Achache discovers thousands of photos, letters and recordings, but these buried secrets make her disappearance even more of an enigma. Through the power of cinema and the beauty of acting she brings her mother back to life in a performance by actress Marion Cotillard and tries to retrace her journey to find out who she really was. Mona Achache

Born in 1981, Mona Achache studied literature and theater before making her film debut as an assistant director. After two short films, she directed and scripted her first feature film, The Hedgehog (2009), freely inspired by the novel "The Elegance of the Hedgehog", by Muriel Barbery. After that, she directed the comedy film Les Gazelles (2013) and worked on several TV movies, documentaries and French series.
