Thirty years after serving together in the Vietnam War, Doc and his fellow vets reunite for a different type of mission: to bury Doc’s son, a Marine killed in Iraq. Doc decides to forgo burial at Arlington Cemetery and, with the help of his old buddies, takes the casket on a bittersweet trip up the East Coast to his home in suburban New Hampshire. A roadmovie on friendship and the inexorable wounds of war. Based on Darryl Ponicsan’s novel, the film is a sequel to Hal Ashby’s The Last Detail.
