In 1972, Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571, which had been chartered to fly a rugby team to Chile, crashed in the heart of the Andes. Only 29 of its 45 passengers survived the accident. Trapped in one of the most hostile and inaccessible environments on the planet, they have to resort to extreme measures to stay alive. Adapted from the book "The Society of Snow", by Pablo Vierci. J.A. Bayona

Born in Barcelona, he grew up with a passion for film. This led him to study directing, at the Cinema and Audiovisual School of Catalonia (ESCAC). After directing two short films, My Holidays (1999) and The Sponge Man (2003), directed his first feature. The Orphanage (2007) premiered at Cannes, produced by Guillermo del Toro. After that he directed The Impossible (2012), A Monster Calls (2016) and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018).
