A poor woodcutter and his wife live in a great forest. Cold, hunger, poverty and a war make their lives very hard until one day, the woodcutter’s wife rescues a baby. Thrown from one of the many trains that constantly pass through the forest, this "most precious of cargoes", will transform the lives of the couple, as well as those whose paths the child will cross — including the man who threw her from the train. Some will try to protect her, whatever the cost, and their story will reveal the worst and the best in humanity. Competition Cannes 2024.
Michel Hazanavicius
French filmmaker born in 1967. After an initial a career in TV, wrote and directed his first feature for cinema, Mes Amis (1999). Attracted the attention of the international audience and won the Oscar of Best Direction for The Artist (2011). Also directed the box-office success Agente 117: Cairo Nest of Spies (2006), The Search (2014), Redoubtable (2017) and Final Cut (2022). A Mais Preciosa das Cargas is his first animated film.
