How many takes are necessary to get the perfect acoustics of an opening door? What about modulating a reader’s voice correctly? Documentary filmmaker Nicolas Philibert (of To Be and to Have) challenged himself to make a film devoted to the universe of sound: Radio France, French public radio broadcaster. Armed with his camera and audio equipment, the filmmaker spent months in the station’s hallways, capturing the meticulous work routine of its employees and its programming, which includes concerts, interviews, news reports and talks with listeners.
