Trailer

Aristocratic ladies, nouveau-riches, politicians, high-scale criminals, actors, decaying noblemen, artists and intellectuals – real or presumed --, all under the scrutiny of just one character, 65-year old journalist and writer Jep Gambardella. In his return to Italy, Paolo Sorrentino, director of This Must Be the Place (2011), refrains from directly referencing filmmakers, but pays homage to the great Italian cinema of Scola, Fellini, Ferreri and Monicelli. A movie about Rome, its inhabitants, its dangers and intellectual adventures that lead us nowhere. Competition, Cannes 2013.
