Christoph Schlingensief (1960-2010), German director, playwright and opera director, was one of the most respected contemporary artists. Diagnosed with cancer, Christoph decides to put an ambitious plan into practice: to build an opera, with a school and a theater, in a remote village in Burkina Faso, Africa. As many have noted: “a veritable Fitzcarraldo of the desert”. Guided by the charismatic artist, the film follows his odyssey from talks with his architect Francis Kéré and regular visits to the African country.
