​Artist Jeff Koons is known for his use and reproduction of banal objects, like sculptures made of hoovers or a figure of Michael Jackson. Always controversial, he is considered manipulative or sensationalist by some, a wise critic of the art world by others. In 1992, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art organised his first big retrospective, where Koons showed the series Made in Heaven, a collection of pieces that showed him having sex with his then wife, the porn actress Cicciolina. The documentary follows the artist during the mounting and opening of the exhibition.​
