​Ikko Aoki stands out among the other criminal investigators in Tokyo for a long time. Intelligent and somewhat arrogant, his skills earn him the attention of a special unit of the Metropolitan Police. Under the supervision of the cold and enigmatic Maki, the unit uses nanotechnology, an ethically questionable method, for extracting memory fragments from recently deceased victims. In his first case, Aoki will have to investigate the mind of a middle-aged man who killed his entire family. One body was never found and locating it will be critical to solving the case.​
