The influx of latin-american immigrants to the US is not a recent isolated phenomenon. Confronting the current situation with historical data, the film shies away from a one-sided view of the phenomenon. This vision is in the North-American government’s expansionist actions of decades ago, be it by directly controlling countries such as Cuba and Puerto Rico or imposing military governments in El Salvador, Guatemala and Nicaragua. A portrait of the huge sacrifices and triumphs of these millions of immigrants that are transforming the US’s cultural landscape. Based on a book by Juan Gonzalez.
