On a cloudy summer morning, Merle arrives at her boyfriend Romuald’s country house, in the south of France. In a jacket, carrying her luggage, she finds the doors locked. He’d invited her over to visit him, but seems to have decided to travel elsewhere. The house, though, is not empty: soon Merle realizes she will have to reach an agreement with Romuald’s children. She is going to help celebrate young Emma’s 13th birthday and deal with the abuse of Felix, the teenage son who regards her as a threat. Soon, however, they barely even miss Romuald anymore.
