João Batista de Andrade
One of Brazil's most prolific filmmakers born in 1939. Began audiovisual production in the mid 1960s, making documentaries like Liberdade de Imprensa (1966) and Cândido Portinari, um Pintor de Brodósqui (1968). Gamal, o Delírio do Sexo (1968) was his first fiction feature. He also directed the award-winning O Homem que Virou Suco (1979), O País dos Tenentes (1987), O Cego que Gritava Luz (1996) and O Tronco (1999).
