Jon, an aspiring young musician, discovers he’s bitten off more than he can chew when he joins an avant-garde rock band lead by the enigmatic Frank. Frank is a musical legend who hides himself inside a large papier machê head. After a rocky start, Jon ingratiates himself with the band members, and they retreat to a cabin in the woods to record an album. The film is loosely inspired by Frank Sidebottom, the persona of cult musician and comedian Chris Sievey, as well as other outsider musicians like Daniel Johnston and Captain Beefheart.
