In 1996, the appearance of antiretroviral drugs radically changed perspectives for HIV positives. For millions of sick people in Africa, however, these drugs remained out of reach due to the high prices imposed by the pharmaceutical industry. Shielded by patents and legislation, these companies have been responsible for thousands of unnecessary deaths in underdeveloped countries. Born of Irish and Indian parents, he currently lives in Mumbai, India. He is a history and film studies graduate at Dartmouth College, United States, having also attended European universities. He has worked as an assistant director, among other positions. Fire in the Blood is his first feature.
