This personal project from filmmaker Murilo Salles examines Brazil’s identity by building profiles on four Brazilian talents whose works have great notoriety in the international cultural scene. The Festival will screen the segment featuring Tunga, where the excesses of Brazilian Baroque become evident, as well as our deep anthropomorphic tradition.
Murilo Salles
1950, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Since 1969, he has worked as a director, writer, and cinematographer. Selected filmography: Happier Than Ever (best film at Brasília 1984), Two Edged Knife (best director at Gramado 1989), How Angels Are Born (best director and critic’s award at Gramado, 1996), Seja o que Deus quiser! (audience award at the Rio Film Festival 2003), and A Proper Name (best film at Gramado 2007).
