In the little town of Abalurdes, Edgar Wilson, works collecting animals which have been run over in order to keep the roads open. He is accompanied by his work colleague Tomas, an excommunicated ex-priest who distributes last rites to dying beings which cross his path, and his boss Nete, with whom Edgar has a blossoming relationship and the desire to get away. Around them the world seems to be giving signs of being on the brink of destruction.
