A coastal city in Brazil. Kai comes from Taiwan to spend holidays in Brazil, broken-hearted. A faulty air-conditioner leads her to Fu Ang's umbrella shop. He could have become a friend but the rainy season does not come and his shop disappears. While looking for Fu Ang, Kai discovers Xiaoxin and a group of Chinese workers in a luxury skyscraper. Kai sees herself strangely mirrored in Xiaoxin's story. FIPRESCI prize Encounters Berlin 2024.
Nele Wohlatz
Director and producer born in Hanover, in Germany. She studied scenography, philosophy and cinema. Gained recognition as director of the features El Futuro Perfecto (2016) and Ricardo Bär (2013), also made shorts and exhibited her films in various international festivals.
