Canção ao Longe follows Jimena's eagerness for her identity and her place in the world. A young woman who wants to move away from her house, which she shares with her mother and grandmother, and where she feels out of place. Jimena also needs to break up with her father, with whom she maintains a long-distance exchange of letters. Jimena is dealing with her origin, her body, and her choices, and is faced with the silence of her family relationships. By looking through Jimena’s eyes, the film raises issues about class, family, tradition, race, and gender.
