He began his career as a documentary photographer and won awards such as World Press Photo, UN’s Focus on Your World, and Hasselblad Master. He is a managing partnet of Zazen Produções and has directed films such as Estamira (2004) – best documentary at the Rio Film Festival and Karlovy Vary – and Artificial Paradises (2012). He produced Bus 174 (2002), Elite Squad 1 and 2 (2007/10) and Garapa (2009), all directed by José Padilha, as well as other films.
