Boteco or botequim are terms derived from the portuguese "Botica", used in Portugal. In Brazil, the botecos became notorious for being places one goes to in order to drink and chat, which are its main reasons for existing. These spaces, which accumulate years of history, serve as a starting point for the film to tell the story of Portuguese immigration in Brazil through visits to several traditional botequins of Rio. Written by Portuguese Ivan Dias and Brazilian musician Henrique Cazes, Boteco is a collection of episodes and stories of a long-gone Portugal and a Brazil that welcomed it.
