The documentary Black Rio! Black Power! addresses the Black Rio movement's influence in culture, society and the struggle for racial justice in Rio de Janeiro and Brazil between the decades of 1970 and 1980. The film presents the moviment's impact in music and in the direction of politics and the black movement during the period of redemocratisation, influencing styles like hip-hop and funk, and the affirmative posture of the newer generations, who maintain the black pride and aesthetic values diffused by Black Rio 50 years ago.
