Not so far from the Amazon there is a Brazilian desert where 64-year-old Betânia is trying to be reborn as the world ends. After burying her husband, killed by the salt, this inhabitant of an isolated area of Lençóis Maranhenses decides to move to a villa of 300 people and experience the comforts and discomforts of life with internet and electricity. Screened at Panorama Berlin 2024.
Marcelo Botta
Creator and director of the series Auto Posto (2020), a hit at Comedy Central and Paramount+, and Viajo Logo Existo (2020), from Travel Box Brazil. He co-directed, the feature Abestalhados 2 (2022) with Marcos Jorge. In the decade of 2010, he directed memorable comedy programmes at MTV Brazil. As a partner of Salvatore Filmes, he produced the documentaries Marcha Cega (2018) and Memória Sufocada (2021), both by Gabriel Di Giacomo.
