Jane is a perfectly ordinary thirtysomething. Except she has a secret: her obsession with Jane Austen, author of novels such as Sense and Sensibility. Like most “austenmaniacs”, Jane is saving money to visit Austenland, a resort which replicates the atmosphere of the author’s books. There, Jane’s fantasies of meeting a legitimate gentleman will become more real than she could have ever imagined. Based on the book by Shannon Hale (who also pens the screenplay), this film is the directorial debut of Napoleon Dynamite screenwriter Jerusha Hess. Sundance 2013.
