Laura is a teacher to two orphans who live on their uncle’s coffee plantation. She begins to sense that the children are under the influence of malign spirits that lived there and she decides to discover what is behind the mystery, not realizing that she herself may be involved in a diabolical plot.

He helped create Cinemateca of the Modern Art Museum in Rio, and started out in cinema as an assistant director of Black God, White Devil. In 1965, he released his first feature, Plantation Boy. In 1969 he won the Silver Bear in Berlin for Brasil ano 2000. In the 1970s he dedicated himself to television. A lira do delírio (1978) won five awards at the Brasilia Festival. For The Oyster and the Wind he won the CinemAvvenire Award at the Venice 1997.
