Everest, the highest mountain in the world attracts hundreds of climbers, mostly white men with the finances to pay for the undertaking, around R$ 400.000,00. Aretha Duarte, from a poor neighborhood in Campinas, becomes the first black latin woman to reach the summit in 2021. To pay for the trip, she works collecting recyclables and triggers an environmental awareness process in her town that expands through social media making her an inspiring public figure owing to her persistence and energy.
