Lou Ye
Born into a theatrical family in Shanghai in 1965. He spent his childhood in theatres and worked as an animator at Shanghai Animation Studio. He graduated from Beijing Film Academy in 1989, majoring in directing. His films have been selected and won awards in all the major international festivals. Sua filmography includes Suzhou River (2000), Purple Butterfly (2003), Summer Palace (2006) and Love and Bruises (2011).
