This adaptation of the John le Carré novel follows the German spy, Gunther Bachmann, as he searches for Issa, a Chechen-Russian escaping to Hamburg. Pressured by his colleagues to capture and interrogate the suspect, Bachmann prefers to use his time to carefully study Issa and her relationship with her lawyer Annabel Richter. With keen ability, he gradually gets involved in a complex scheme between a famous Muslim philanthropist and a powerful terrorist group. One of the last films with actor Philip Seymour Hoffman, who died this year. Sundance 2014 .
