A modern version of The Master Builder by Henrik Ibsen. At 60, Harvard Solness is a successful architect. He bullies his wife Aline, who is mourning her two children, both of whom died as babies several years ago. He is also difficult with his employees: Knut Brovik, an old architect, Ragnar, Brovik’s talented son and Kaya, Ragnar’s fiancée. Kaya is the accountant and also Solness’s lover. Based on the legendary edit by André Gregory which takes a new look at one of Ibsen’s last works, the feature film is directed by Jonathan Demme (Silence of the Lambs, Rachel Getting Married).
Jonathan Demme
Nasceu em 1944 em Long Island, EUA. Já dirigiu 30 longas-metragens. Com O silêncio dos inocentes (1991), ganhou os Oscar de melhor filme e direção e o Urso de Prata de direção em Berlim. Entre seus principais trabalhos estão títulos como De caso com a máfia (1988), Filadélfia (1993) e O casamento de Rachel (2008), além de documentários como Stop Making Sense (1984), Jimmy Carter Man from Plains (2007) e Neil Young Journeys (2012).
