When the Austrian peasant farmer is faced with the threat of execution for treason, it is his unwavering faith and his love for his wife, Fani, and children that keeps his spirit alive. Terrence Malick
Born in 1943 in Illinois, US. He worked for Newsweek, Life and The New Yorker, and taught philosophy at MIT before enrolling at the American Film Institute. He wrote and directed Badlands (1973), Days of Heaven (best director at Cannes 1978), The Thin Red Line (Golden Bear in Berlin, 1998), The New World (2005), and The Tree of Life (Palme D’Or at Cannes nominated for three Oscars, 2011), among others.
