In Tabatô, 4500 years ago, agriculture was invented; 2000 years ago, justice; and a 1000 years ago, the basis for reggae and jazz. Baio returns to Guinea-Bissau after 30 years’ exile in Portugal. There, he will be reunited with daughter Faju, who splits her time between history classes at the University and preparations for her wedding. The ceremony is due to take place in Tabatô, a mythical village inhabited solely by musicians. Aided by drums and marimbas, Baio will try to exorcize his own haunting memories of the independence war. Honorable Mention at the Berlin Film Festival, 2013.
