Jerzy Skolimowski
Born in Poland, in 1938. He studied ethnology, literature and history in Warsaw and film directing in Lodz. He directed films such as The Departure (1967), Gold Bear in Berlin; The Shout (1978), winner of the Grand Prize in Cannes; The Lightship (1985), Special Prize at the Venice Film Festival; Four Nights with Anna (2008) and Essential Killing (2010). As an actor, he starred in films like Mars Attacks! (1996) and Eastern Promises (2007).
