It was just a few years ago that the Festival do Rio proudly announced a new category of films that celebrated homosexual culture: Gay World. However, as might naturally be expected from today’s open, liberal and diverse society, films that reflect progress made by civil rights and LGBT+ movements are becoming far too plentiful to confine to one category only. Thus Gay World underwent a transformation, becoming the Felix Award (Premio Felix), a prize created to celebrate discussions on gender diversity right across the board.

Now proudly into its second year, the Felix Award stays firm in its principle objective of bringing together and celebrating the most prominent and incisive commentaries on gender diversity the global cinematic scene has to offer.

The prize will be awarded to the most impressive of 25 titles taken from across the festival’s programme. Those films in question are:
